Prescriptions

Requesting a Repeat Prescription

Please complete one of the above actions 2 working days (Monday – Friday) before the prescription is needed, stating clearly which items are required.

Practice policy is to prescribe 28 days medication on all repeat drugs.

Medication which has not been set up by your GP as a repeat item, (Acute medication), will have to be authorised each time by your GP. You will be asked to telephone for confirmation that the Doctor will leave the prescription or if you have to be seen. This may take longer than 48 hours.

Dispensary

For patients who live more than 1 mile from a chemist, the practice has a dispensary for medication, and can dispense all medications and appliances. Please speak to our dispensary staff, if you would like any advice or information regarding this service.

Our Dispensary Team Lead is Miss R Robilliard.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
